Minutes of the meeting of the jury (1 July, 2022)

The Pedro Almeida Ferreira – Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa PhD Scholarship is the result of a partnership between the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, under the Interuniversity PhD Program in History, PIUDHist: Change and Continuity in a Global World. Funded by SCML it aims to support the training of doctoral students in the program and pay tribute to one of its most promising students. Pedro Almeida Ferreira (1986-2017) was part of the 6th edition of PIUDHist, where he had the opportunity to stand out as one of the most active and committed doctoral students, and was even the first student representative. His path reflected the seriousness, rigor and enthusiasm in the critical production of historiographical knowledge, in the area of contemporary history, social movements and didactics of history. Illness caused Pedro to leave this world prematurely, in August 2017, leaving his contribution unfinished. In addition to perpetuating the memory of his academic merits, this tribute aims to evoke his personal merits, his courage and resilience, unanimously recognized by professors, colleagues and friends.
